This Preflow, Postflow, and Burnback Timer Kit addresses common challenges encountered during industrial wire welding processes, particularly those involving high wire feed speeds. By integrating this module into the wire feeder, operators gain precise control over the timing of the welding arc and shielding gas, which is critical for maintaining weld integrity and equipment longevity.

The primary technical function of this kit is to provide an adjustable delay for the power source output shut-off. This mechanism is known as "burnback" control. Without proper burnback timing, the electrode wire may not burn back towards the contact tip sufficiently when the trigger is released, causing it to freeze in the molten weld crater. This phenomenon, known as electrode sticking, requires the operator to mechanically cut the wire to free the gun, interrupting workflow and potentially damaging the contact tip or liner. The K2330-2 eliminates this issue by keeping the arc energized for a fraction of a second after the wire feed stops, ensuring the wire burns back to the correct stick-out length.

In addition to burnback control, the kit facilitates preflow and postflow gas timing. Preflow ensures that the weld zone is purged of atmospheric contaminants before the arc strikes, reducing start porosity. Postflow continues the flow of shielding gas after the arc is extinguished, protecting the solidifying weld pool and the hot tungsten or wire end from oxidation.
