The Lincoln Electric UltraCore® 308L-17 (SKU: ED037130) is a premium gas-shielded flux-cored wire designed for the high-productivity welding of austenitic stainless steels. Engineered to meet AWS E308LT1-1 and E308LT1-4 classifications, this 0.045-inch diameter wire is supplied on a 25 lb spool, making it ideal for industrial fabrication environments. The wire is specifically formulated to join 304 and 304L stainless steels, offering a low carbon deposit that resists intergranular corrosion and carbide precipitation.

One of the defining technical characteristics of the UltraCore® 308L-17 is its versatility in shielding gas selection. It operates effectively with both 100% CO2 and a blend of 75% Argon / 25% CO2. Using 100% CO2 provides a cost-effective solution with deep penetration, while the mixed gas offers a smoother arc and reduced spatter. The wire utilizes a rutile-based slag system that supports all-position welding, including vertical-up and overhead, without sacrificing bead appearance or mechanical integrity.
