The Lincoln Electric SuperGlaze® 5356 is a premium-grade aluminum-magnesium alloy TIG (GTAW) welding rod designed for high-specification industrial applications. Assigned the internal SKU ED031110, this consumable meets the rigorous requirements of AWS A5.10: R5356 and EN ISO 18273-A: S AI 5356 classifications. The rod features a diameter of 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) and comes in standard 36-inch (914 mm) cut lengths, packaged in a 10 lb protective carton to maintain surface integrity and prevent contamination.

Metallurgically, the 5356 alloy is the most widely used general-purpose filler metal for welding 5XXX series alloys (specifically those with magnesium content above 3%) and 6XXX series alloys. It exhibits relatively high shear strength and excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in marine environments. Unlike 4043 filler metals, 5356 is non-heat treatable but provides superior ductility and toughness in the as-welded condition. It is specifically engineered for applications where tensile strengths of up to 40,000 PSI are not the sole requirement, but where ductility and anodizing performance are critical.
