OVERVIEW

High-Performance Zirconiated Tungsten for AC Applications

The ESAB WZ3 Zirconiated Tungsten Electrodes are engineered specifically for high-quality AC TIG welding applications. Containing a small percentage of Zirconium Oxide (ZrO2), these electrodes offer significant performance advantages over pure tungsten, particularly when welding aluminum and magnesium alloys. The WZ3 classification indicates a specific zirconium content that balances arc stability with electrode life.

These 2.4mm (3/32") electrodes feature a precision ground finish, ensuring consistent diameter and optimal electrical conductivity. Unlike pure tungsten, Zirconiated tungsten resists splitting at higher amperages and minimizes the risk of tungsten inclusions in the weld puddle. They are designed to form a clean, balled tip when heated, which is essential for maintaining a stable AC arc and achieving smooth, high-quality weld beads.

Supplied in a pack of 10, these electrodes are 175mm (7") in length, fitting standard TIG torch collets. They are non-radioactive, making them a safer alternative to thoriated tungsten for specific applications, although they are strictly recommended for AC welding and are not suitable for DC welding. The WZ3 formulation ensures excellent re-ignition properties and arc stability, making them a preferred choice for professional fabricators working with light alloys.
