OVERVIEW

Technical Overview of the 10N48L Alumina Long Nozzle

The 10N48L is a specialized TIG welding consumable designed for use with 17, 18, and 26 series TIG torches. Manufactured from high-grade alumina ceramic, this nozzle exhibits superior dielectric strength and thermal shock resistance, making it suitable for high-amperage applications where standard ceramic cups might fail. The nozzle features a #6 orifice, providing a 3/8-inch (9.5mm) gas outlet diameter, which is ideal for standard gas flow requirements in general fabrication.

The defining characteristic of the 10N48L is its extended length. Unlike standard nozzles, the long configuration allows the tungsten electrode to extend further while still maintaining laminar gas flow, or allows the torch head to remain at a distance while the nozzle enters a recessed area. This geometry is critical for maintaining arc stability in restricted access applications. The nozzle threads directly onto standard collet bodies or gas lens collet bodies designed for the 17/18/26 series platforms.

This generic replacement part is engineered to meet or exceed OEM specifications for fitment and performance. It offers high impact resistance and effectively resists spatter buildup, ensuring a longer service life and reduced downtime for consumable changes. The consistent wall thickness and precise threading ensure a gas-tight seal, preventing atmospheric contamination of the weld pool.
