Engineered by Parker Torchology, this component replaces standard collet bodies in WP-9, WP-20, and WP-25 series torches, as well as serving as the core component in "Stubby" gas lens conversion kits for larger WP-17, WP-18, and WP-26 torches. The primary function of this gas lens is to transform the turbulent flow of shielding gas from the torch into a coherent, laminar stream.
This laminar flow is achieved through a multi-layered stainless steel mesh screen integrated into the brass body. By straightening the gas stream, the 45V44 significantly improves the shielding envelope around the weld pool, reducing the risk of atmospheric contamination and porosity. This stability allows the welder to extend the tungsten electrode further past the nozzle (stick-out) without losing gas coverage, which is critical for welding in deep joints, corners, or obstructed areas where visibility is limited.
