At the heart of this kit is the Model 245-03P Nitrogen Regulator, a precision instrument capable of delivering the low-pressure, low-volume flow of dry nitrogen required to displace oxygen within copper tubing during brazing. By maintaining a nitrogen atmosphere, technicians effectively prevent the formation of cupric oxide scale on the inner pipe walls. This scale, if allowed to form, can detach during system operation and cause severe restrictions in metering devices or contaminate compressor oil, leading to premature system failure. The regulator is equipped with standard CGA connections suitable for nitrogen cylinders, ensuring compatibility with industry-standard gas supplies.

Beyond its primary role in oxidation prevention, the 0386-1370 kit serves as a multi-functional diagnostic and maintenance tool.
