The ESAB 31411 is a specialized Gouging Heat Shield designed for use with the heavy-duty PT-26 plasma torch. This component is critical for operators performing plasma gouging, a process that generates significant heat and molten debris. The shield acts as the primary barrier between the harsh gouging environment and the sensitive internal components of the torch head, such as the nozzle and electrode.
Manufactured to ESAB's exacting standards, this heat shield ensures proper gas dynamics are maintained, which is essential for achieving a clean, controlled gouge profile. Unlike standard cutting shields, the 31411 is engineered to withstand the specific thermal stresses of gouging, where the arc is longer and the material removal rate is higher. It fits securely onto the PT-26 torch body, providing electrical insulation and mechanical protection.
Regular inspection and replacement of the heat shield are recommended to prevent damage to the torch head. A compromised shield can lead to poor gas flow, arc instability, and potential overheating of the torch. By using the genuine ESAB 31411, users ensure compatibility and maintain the safety ratings of their equipment.
