Colourless, Odourless Gas Has Its Place

The most common examples of beneficial colourless, odourless gas are:

A Deeper Look At Colourless, Odourless Gases
Argon. Argon is completely inert, making it a very valuable gas that can be safely used in many different situations. One of the biggest applications for Argon is as a shielding gas, as it can protect the work area from contamination, reactions with other gases, and the oxidizing effects of the atmosphere. In addition to welding, cutting, and metallurgy, Argon is used to fill lightbulbs and window panels.
Carbon Dioxide. This colourless, odourless gas is actually slightly toxic. It does not burn or support combustion but it is very soluble in water where it forms carbonic acid, giving us those fizzy bubbles in soda. In addition to providing carbonation, carbon dioxide is used to preserve foods and control food and water pH values. Non-potable/edible uses include shielding gas, blanket chemical, and fire extinguishing.
Helium. Helium is a non-flammable, colourless, odourless gas that is completely inert. It is the second most abundant element in the universe and was originally discovered on the Sun before being discovered on Earth. This gas has a high thermal conductivity and is a popular shielding gas due to its’ inert properties.
Nitrogen. Nitrogen is nonflammable, will not support combustion, and is not life-supporting. It is an ideal coolant and is often used to freeze food, blood, and other materials, control temperature reactions, and modify material properties. As a gas, it is used to pressurize devices and pneumatically convey materials because it is adept at keeping contaminants like oxygen and water out of the device.
Oxygen. Oxygen supports all life and combustion. Every element, except for the rare gases, react in the presence of oxygen, so even though oxygen itself is a colourless, odourless gas it could react with another to present a danger. Oxygen is widely used in the medical and healthcare industries, but also in any type of manufacturing that relies on cutting or welding, and is used in food packaging and preparation.
