The Lucas Milhaupt Handy Flux Type B-1 is a specialized high-temperature flux designed to meet the rigorous demands of industrial brazing applications involving stainless steel, carbides, and other refractory metals. Formulated to be active within the temperature range of 1100°F to 1700°F (595°C to 925°C), this flux offers extended protection against oxidation, which is critical when working with base metals that form tenacious oxides rapidly upon heating.

This 1 lb jar of paste flux is engineered for situations where the heating cycle is prolonged or where the base metal requires a higher heat input than standard general-purpose fluxes can withstand. It is particularly effective for brazing cutting tools with carbide tips, stainless steel assemblies, and heavy parts that heat up slowly. The B-1 formulation ensures that the flux remains active and fluid, promoting excellent wetting and capillary action of the filler metal even under thermal stress.

Compliance with industry standards is a key feature of the Handy B-1. It meets AWS A5.31 Type FB3-C and AMS 3411 specifications, ensuring it fits into regulated aerospace and manufacturing workflows. The paste consistency allows for precise application with a brush, adhering well to the workpiece without running off, even in vertical positions. After the brazing process is complete, the flux residue is water-soluble, simplifying the post-braze cleaning process and reducing the need for harsh chemical removers.
