The PFERD 48100 4-1/2″ COMBICLICK Surface Conditioning Disc represents a significant advancement in abrasive technology, specifically designed for professionals requiring efficiency and precision in surface finishing. This disc utilizes PFERD’s proprietary COMBICLICK mounting system, which combines the mechanical advantages of a quick-change mechanism with a specialized cooling geometry. The system features a unique backing pad design with cooling slots that facilitate airflow directly behind the abrasive surface. This results in a substantial reduction in thermal load—up to 30% cooler than conventional hook-and-loop systems—making it an exceptional choice for working with thermally sensitive materials like stainless steel and aluminum.

The disc itself is constructed from high-quality coarse-grade non-woven material impregnated with abrasive grain. This structure allows for aggressive surface conditioning, such as removing rust, oxide, and light scale, while maintaining a consistent finish. Unlike rigid grinding wheels, the open mesh structure of the surface conditioning material conforms to the workpiece, ensuring that the geometric integrity of the part is preserved. It resists loading, even on softer metals, ensuring a long operational life and consistent performance from the first pass to the last.
