This ER70S-6 .035-inch MIG welding wire is the industry standard for welding mild steel. Packaged in a convenient 11 lb spool, it is designed to fit a wide variety of portable and shop-floor MIG welders that utilize an 8-inch diameter spool hub. Whether you are working on automotive repairs, light structural frameworks, or general metal fabrication, this wire delivers consistent performance and high-quality results.<\/p>\n
One of the primary benefits of the ER70S-6 classification is its versatility. It is formulated with higher levels of deoxidizers compared to other standard wires, which means it handles base metals that aren’t perfectly clean. If you are welding on steel that has light mill scale, minor rust, or surface contaminants, this wire helps prevent porosity and ensures a sound weld. The copper coating on the wire serves two purposes: it protects the wire from rusting during storage and improves electrical conductivity at the contact tip, resulting in a stable arc and smooth feeding through the gun liner.<\/p>\n
