The Miller 247118 WeldX Performance Welding Jacket in 2X-Large represents a significant advancement in personal protective equipment (PPE) for professional welders. Engineered to bridge the gap between heavy leather garments and lighter cotton apparel, this jacket utilizes Miller’s proprietary WeldX fabric. The front and sleeves are constructed from 7 oz. WeldX material, a high-performance compound that exhibits extreme flame-resistant properties. It is designed to repel sparks, spatter, and molten metals effectively, ensuring it will not burn, melt, ignite, or shrink under intense thermal stress. This provides the durability typically associated with leather but with a substantial reduction in weight.

To maximize operator comfort without compromising safety, the jacket features a hybrid design. While the high-exposure areas utilize WeldX fabric, the back is crafted from 9 oz. flame-resistant Navy cotton. This strategic material mapping allows for optimal protection where it is needed most while significantly enhancing breathability and reducing heat stress. The back is further enhanced with a vented design to improve airflow, a critical feature for welders working in hot environments or for extended durations. The sleeves are lined for added thermal insulation and protection against radiant heat.

The Miller WeldX jacket incorporates several functional features tailored to the industrial environment. It includes a zipper closure shielded by a Velcro storm flap, preventing sparks from entering through the fastening mechanism. A Barracuda-style stand-up collar offers essential neck protection from arc rays and flying debris. The garment features an extended rear tail to ensure lower back coverage when the operator is bending or crouching. Additionally, the jacket is equipped with “fold-in” sleeve snaps for a secure fit around the wrists, minimizing the risk of material snagging. Notably, the jacket is pre-shrunk and machine washable, allowing for easy maintenance without degrading its flame-resistant properties. It is also chromium-free, facilitating easier and more environmentally responsible disposal methods compared to chrome-tanned leather products.

High-Performance Flame Resistant Protection The Miller 247118 WeldX Performance Welding Jacket in 2X-Large represents a significant advancement in personal protective equipment (PPE) for professional welders.
