The Miller Electric 231096 Welding Sleeves represent a sophisticated hybrid approach to personal protective equipment (PPE), specifically engineered to address the dual requirements of thermal protection and operator comfort in industrial environments. These sleeves utilize a composite construction strategy, integrating two distinct materials to optimize performance zones. The upper portion of the sleeve is fabricated from Indura® 100% flame-resistant cotton. This specialized textile is treated to provide flame resistance that is guaranteed for the life of the garment, ensuring that the protective qualities do not degrade through washing or wear. The use of cotton in the upper arm area significantly reduces the overall weight of the PPE and enhances breathability, a critical factor in mitigating heat stress during prolonged welding operations.

In contrast, the lower section of the sleeve—which is subject to the highest frequency of spark impingement, spatter, and abrasive contact—is constructed from premium top-grain pigskin leather. Pigskin is technically advantageous in this application due to its inherent resistance to hardening after exposure to moisture or repeated heat cycles, maintaining flexibility and dexterity for the operator. The sleeves measure 21 inches in total length, providing substantial coverage that extends from the wrist well up to the bicep, effectively shielding the operator’s arms from ultraviolet (UV) radiation and minor thermal hazards associated with arc welding processes.

Structural integrity is a key focus of the design, evidenced by the reinforced stitching and finished hems which prevent fraying and seam failure under rigorous industrial conditions. The fabric components are pre-shrunk, eliminating concerns regarding dimensional changes or shrinkage after laundering. To ensure a secure and consistent fit across a variety of arm sizes, the sleeves are equipped with a wide elastic band at the proximal end. This band prevents slippage during overhead or positional welding, ensuring continuous protection. Furthermore, the cuffs are flame-resistant, providing a safe interface with welding gloves. These sleeves are classified as secondary protection, designed to supplement standard welding jackets or to be worn over lighter work shirts in appropriate light-to-medium duty applications such as TIG welding or light MIG fabrication.

Miller® Combo Sleeves.

Combines the Protection of leather with the lightweight breathability of cloth.
[1970,1971

post-1771351","product","type-product","status-publish","endorsed-aluminum-fab-shop","endorsed-autobody-shop","endorsed-carbon-steel-fab-shop","endorsed-construction-demolition-shop","endorsed-home-shop","endorsed-mechanical-contractor","endorsed-red-seal","endorsed-stainless-steel-fab-shop","endorsed-tool-die-shop","product_cat-gloves-leather-sleeves-aprons","product_cat-gloves-leathers-sleeves-aprons","pa_brand-miller","pa_item-sleeves","pa_length-21-inches","pa_material-fire-resistant-cotton","pa_material-fire-resistant-cotton-2","pa_material-pig-skin-2","pa_packaging-description-1-pair","pa_packaging-description-1-pair-2","pa_size-n-a","pa_size-one-size-2","first","onbackorder","taxable","shipping-taxable","purchasable","product-type-simple
