The Miller 230235 is a specialized Teflon liner designed to facilitate the smooth transmission of aluminum welding wire through the head tube assembly of high-performance MIG guns. Specifically engineered for wire diameters ranging from .030 to .035 inches, this component is critical for industrial operations utilizing Miller’s advanced push-pull systems, such as the XR-Aluma-Pro and XR-Pistol-Pro. Unlike standard steel liners, this unit is manufactured from high-quality Teflon (PTFE), a material chosen for its exceptionally low coefficient of friction and chemical inertness.<\/p>\n
In aluminum welding applications, the softness of the filler metal presents unique challenges, particularly the risk of wire deformation, shaving, or “bird-nesting” when resistance is encountered. The Miller 230235 addresses these issues by providing a slick, non-abrasive path for the wire as it transitions from the gun body to the contact tip. This 6-inch liner is specifically a “jump” or “neck” liner, residing in the curved gooseneck section of the torch where friction is typically highest. By maintaining the integrity of the wire surface and reducing drag, this liner ensures consistent wire feed speeds and stable arc characteristics, which are paramount for precision aluminum fabrication.<\/p>\n
