The Miller 228400 Knob, Pointer Assembly is a genuine Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) component designed to restore the functional interface of your Miller welding power source. In the realm of precision welding, the accuracy of your machine’s settings—whether it be voltage, amperage, or wire feed speed—is paramount to achieving code-compliant welds. The control knob serves as the primary tactile link between the operator and the machine’s internal potentiometers or encoders. Over time, industrial environments can take a toll on these external components. Exposure to heat, impact, UV radiation, and general wear can cause knobs to crack, loosen, or lose their indexing markings.

This specific part is designated as a “Pointer Assembly,” indicating that it is designed not just for grip, but for visual reference. The pointer element is critical for aligning the control shaft with the graduated scales on the machine’s faceplate. A damaged or missing pointer forces the operator to guess settings or rely entirely on digital readouts, which may not be present on all analog-style machines. By replacing a compromised knob with this authentic Miller 228400 unit, you ensure that the physical position of the dial corresponds accurately to the machine’s output, thereby maintaining process integrity.
