The Miller 220216 is a specialized flat washer designed for use in industrial welding equipment. Unlike standard metal washers used primarily for load distribution, this component is manufactured from black vulcanized fiber. Vulcanized fiber is a laminated plastic composed of natural cellulose, known for its exceptional mechanical strength, durability, and, most importantly, its electrical insulating properties. In the context of welding machinery, where high currents and voltages are present, isolating specific components is critical to safety and functionality. This washer serves as a reliable barrier, preventing unwanted electrical conductivity between fastened parts while also providing a stable bearing surface.

Precision is key when maintaining sophisticated welding power sources and wire feeders. The Miller 220216 features an inner diameter of 0.594 inches, an outer diameter of 1.375 inches, and a thickness of 0.125 inches. These specific dimensions are engineered to fit strict tolerances within Miller assemblies. Using a generic washer with incorrect dimensions or material properties could lead to loose connections, mechanical vibration, or electrical faults. The vulcanized fiber material also offers a degree of compressibility and resilience, allowing it to absorb minor vibrations and resist loosening over time, which is essential in the rugged environment of industrial welding.

This component is typically found in assembly diagrams for various Miller wire feeders and power sources. It is often used in conjunction with studs, bolts, or shafts where an insulating spacer is required. As an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) part, it guarantees the same quality and performance standards as the original component installed at the factory. Maintenance professionals and technicians rely on genuine Miller parts to ensure repairs restore the machine to its original operating specifications.
