The Fibre-Metal 4178IRUV5 is a specialized replacement face shield window designed for personnel engaged in oxy-fuel welding, cutting, and brazing operations. Manufactured from high-quality injection-molded propionate, this visor provides a superior balance of impact resistance, chemical resistance, and optical clarity compared to standard acetate windows. The propionate material is engineered to maintain its shape and durability even in elevated temperature environments typical of gas welding applications.

This specific model features a Shade 5 tint, which is critical for filtering harmful ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) radiation generated during gas welding processes. It is not intended for arc welding applications but is specifically calibrated to reduce glare and protect the retina from the specific spectrums emitted by oxy-fuel torches. The window measures 8 inches by 16.5 inches and utilizes a formed geometry, ensuring a secure fit and optimal coverage when mounted to compatible headgear.

The 4178IRUV5 is designed to integrate seamlessly with Fibre-Metal’s High Performance® Face Shield System, specifically the F400 and F500 series crowns. The mounting system allows for quick change-outs, minimizing downtime when replacing damaged or pitted visors. The .060″ thickness provides a robust barrier against flying debris, sparks, and slag, meeting relevant ANSI Z87.1 standards for impact protection when used with the appropriate headgear frames.
