The ESAB Shield 3.0mm (.12″) is a critical consumable component designed specifically for the PT-36 plasma arc torch. In the realm of mechanized plasma cutting, the PT-36 is renowned for its ability to deliver high-precision cuts across a variety of material thicknesses. This specific shield, identified by part number 0558006130, plays a pivotal role in maintaining that precision. It is engineered with a 3.0mm orifice, a dimension calculated to optimize the flow of shield gas around the plasma arc. This gas flow not only cools the nozzle but also assists in constricting the arc, resulting in a higher energy density and a cleaner, squarer cut edge.

Manufactured in the United States to ESAB’s exacting standards, these shields are constructed from high-grade copper alloys capable of withstanding the intense thermal loads generated during heavy industrial cutting. The shield serves as the first line of defense for the torch’s front-end parts, protecting the delicate nozzle from molten spatter and reflected heat. By effectively managing the shield gas dynamics, this component helps prevent double-arcing and extends the lifespan of the nozzle and electrode, which is essential for maintaining the efficiency of automated cutting tables.

This product is supplied as a package of five, ensuring that operators have immediate access to replacements during long production runs. Consistent maintenance of the shield is vital; a damaged or clogged shield can disrupt gas flow, leading to poor cut quality or even torch failure. By using genuine ESAB OEM parts, fabricators ensure that their PT-36 torch operates within the manufacturer’s specified parameters, preserving the warranty and performance of the entire plasma system. Whether cutting mild steel, stainless steel, or aluminum, the 3.0mm shield provides the reliability required for high-volume industrial applications.
