The CWS13255 Glove Welders Mitt 1 Finger is a specialized piece of personal protective equipment designed to bridge the gap between standard five-finger welding gloves and full welding mitts. In industrial welding environments, particularly during high-amperage Stick (SMAW) or Flux-Cored (FCAW) welding, radiant heat can become unbearable for the operator’s hands. Traditional gloves, while offering dexterity, increase the surface area exposed to heat and separate the fingers, which can lead to faster heat saturation. Conversely, standard mitts offer excellent thermal properties but sacrifice the ability to effectively grip electrode holders or operate MIG gun triggers.<\/p>\n
This 1-finger configuration addresses these engineering challenges by isolating the index finger. This design choice allows the welder to maintain the necessary motor control for manipulating welding triggers, adjusting settings, or guiding electrodes, while the remaining three fingers are enclosed in a single compartment. This grouping reduces the surface area-to-volume ratio, significantly improving heat retention and shielding the back of the hand from intense spatter and slag. Constructed from durable, heavy-duty leather, these mitts are built to withstand the rigorous abrasion and thermal cycling common in heavy fabrication shops.<\/p>\n
