The 3M Fire Retardant Welding Helmet Bib is a critical personal protective equipment (PPE) accessory designed to augment the safety profile of standard welding helmets. In industrial environments where high-amperage welding generates significant spatter, sparks, and intense ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) radiation, standard helmet coverage may not be sufficient to protect the operator’s neck and upper chest. This product addresses that gap by providing a durable, flame-resistant barrier that integrates seamlessly with 3M headtops.

Manufactured from high-quality fire-retardant textiles, this bib is engineered to withstand the thermal hazards associated with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes. The material is self-extinguishing and resists ignition, thereby reducing the risk of burn injuries caused by molten metal droplets or proximity to the arc. By extending protection downwards from the helmet’s chin line, it effectively shields the jugular area and the suprasternal notch—regions often left vulnerable by standard welding jackets and collars.

This SKU is supplied as a pack of two, offering logistical advantages for tool crib management and ensuring continuity of operations. Having a replacement readily available allows for immediate change-outs in the event of contamination or wear, maintaining safety standards without downtime. The attachment mechanism is designed for compatibility with 3M Speedglas welding helmets, ensuring a secure fit that does not compromise the balance or ergonomics of the headgear. It is an indispensable addition to any safety program focused on minimizing occupational hazards in metal fabrication.
