The 3M Speedglas Battery CR2032 (04-0320-00) is a critical maintenance component designed to ensure the continued functionality and safety of 3M Speedglas 9000 Series and Utility Series welding helmets. Auto-darkening filters (ADFs) rely on a stable power source to trigger the liquid crystal shutters that protect the welder’s eyes from intense arc radiation. While solar panels on many units assist in extending operation, the primary reaction speed and low-amp arc detection capabilities are often driven by the internal battery. This pack contains two high-quality lithium CR2032 coin cells, manufactured to meet the strict tolerances required by 3M’s safety equipment.

Using generic batteries in high-performance safety gear can sometimes lead to inconsistent voltage delivery, which may affect the reaction time of the lens or the sensitivity settings. The 3M 04-0320-00 batteries are selected to provide a consistent 3-volt output over a wide temperature range, which is essential for welders working in varying industrial environments. The lithium chemistry ensures a long shelf life, making these an excellent item to keep in inventory for preventative maintenance schedules. A failing battery can lead to the lens flickering or failing to darken entirely, posing a significant safety risk to the operator. Regular replacement of these cells is a standard procedure to maintain the ANSI-rated protection levels of the helmet.

Installation is straightforward, designed to fit the battery sleds of the 9000 and Utility series filters perfectly. The 2-pack configuration is practical, as many ADF models require two batteries for operation, or it allows for a single replacement with an immediate backup available. By utilizing genuine 3M replacement parts, safety managers and welders can be assured of compatibility and performance, safeguarding both the equipment’s longevity and the user’s vision.

3M Speedglas Welding Helmet replacement batteries for 3M Speedglas Filters Utility and 9000 Series.

Batteries are a lithium type CR2032.
