The ESAB OK Autrod 5356 is the industry’s go-to choice for general-purpose aluminum welding. This 20lb (9.07kg) spool of .045-inch wire is engineered to deliver consistent performance, making it a staple in fabrication shops across the automotive, marine, and transportation sectors. As an AlMg5 alloy containing approximately 5% magnesium, it offers a robust combination of strength and workability that professionals rely on daily.

When you choose ESAB, you are investing in wire that is manufactured to precise tolerances. This attention to detail ensures excellent feedability through your MIG gun, significantly reducing the risk of bird-nesting or burn-backs that can halt production. The wire surface is clean and free from contaminants, promoting a stable arc and reducing spatter, which translates to less post-weld cleanup and higher productivity for your team.

This specific alloy is particularly valued for its relatively high shear strength compared to 4000-series wires. It is the preferred filler metal when welding 5000-series base materials, such as 5083 and 5086, often found in boat building and structural components. Additionally, if your project requires anodizing after welding, the 5356 alloy provides a much better color match to the base metal than 4043 wire, which tends to turn dark gray. Whether you are fabricating truck trailers, repairing aluminum containers, or building marine vessels, the ESAB OK Autrod 5356 provides the reliability and quality necessary to get the job done right.
