The Walter Coolcut XX Sanding Disc (SKU: 15X506) represents a significant advancement in coated abrasive technology, specifically engineered for high-performance surface conditioning and stock removal. This product features a 5-inch diameter with a standard 7/8-inch arbor hole, making it compatible with a wide range of industrial angle grinders equipped with the appropriate backing pad. The disc utilizes a 60-grit abrasive structure, which is optimal for intermediate grinding stages where both material removal and surface blending are required.

Technically, the Coolcut XX series is distinguished by its aggressive cutting capability. Manufacturer data indicates a cutting speed up to two times faster than conventional sanding discs. This performance is achieved through a proprietary grain orientation and bonding agent that ensures fresh abrasive particles are continuously exposed during operation. This mechanism not only accelerates the material removal process but also contributes to a consistent surface finish profile (Ra) throughout the lifespan of the disc. The abrasive medium is suitable for a broad spectrum of materials, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Thermal management is a critical aspect of the 15X506 design. The “Cool Cut” designation refers to the disc’s ability to dissipate heat effectively during operation. This is particularly vital when working with materials with low thermal conductivity, such as stainless steel and certain high-temperature alloys, where heat buildup can lead to work hardening or discoloration (heat tint). By maintaining a cooler grinding zone, the disc preserves the metallurgical integrity of the workpiece.

This product is supplied in a pack of 25 units, catering to high-volume industrial environments. It is rated for use on carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, offering versatility for MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) and fabrication shops handling mixed material streams. The 60-grit specification places it firmly in the category of general-purpose grinding, capable of leveling welds and removing heavy corrosion while preparing the surface for finer finishing steps if necessary.

[2000,2006

post-1750787","product","type-product","status-publish","product_cat-abrasives","product_cat-sand-and-blend-discs","pa_arbor-in-7-8","pa_brand-walter","pa_diameter-in-549","pa_grit-364","pa_packaging-description-25-in-a-pack","pa_size-in-834","pa_used-to-sand-steel-or-stainless-or-aluminum","first","onbackorder","taxable","shipping-taxable","purchasable","product-type-simple
