The Walter 15D054 5-Inch Turbo Backing Pad is an essential accessory for industrial metalworking professionals utilizing resin fiber discs. Engineered by Walter Surface Technologies, this backing pad is designed to address the common challenges of heat buildup and premature disc wear. The core innovation lies in its “Turbo” ribbed design, which actively promotes airflow behind the abrasive disc during operation. This convective cooling effect helps dissipate the intense heat generated during heavy grinding, preventing the abrasive grains from glazing over too quickly and protecting the workpiece from heat-induced discoloration or warping.

Constructed from a specially formulated, high-impact resistant plastic, the 15D054 offers the perfect balance of rigidity and flexibility. The rigidity ensures that maximum power is transferred from the angle grinder to the work surface, allowing for aggressive stock removal when necessary. Simultaneously, the inherent flexibility of the pad allows it to conform slightly to curved surfaces and contours, providing the operator with greater control and a more consistent finish. This makes it an ideal choice for a wide range of applications, from weld blending to general surface preparation.

The pad features a standard 5/8″-11 threaded arbor, ensuring compatibility with the vast majority of 5-inch angle grinders used in North American workshops. It comes complete with a clamping nut, providing a secure and centered fit for your abrasive discs. By maintaining the structural integrity of the disc and keeping operating temperatures lower, the Walter 15D054 not only improves the quality of the work but also significantly reduces consumable costs over time. It is a robust, reliable tool component designed for the rigors of daily industrial use.

[2000,2011

post-1750769","product","type-product","status-publish","endorsed-aluminum-fab-shop","endorsed-autobody-shop","endorsed-carbon-steel-fab-shop","endorsed-construction-demolition-shop","endorsed-home-shop","endorsed-mechanical-contractor","endorsed-red-seal","endorsed-stainless-steel-fab-shop","endorsed-tool-die-shop","product_cat-abrasives","product_cat-backing-pads","pa_arbor-in-5-8","pa_brand-walter","pa_diameter-in-549","pa_material-impact-resistant-plastic-2","pa_packaging-description-1-in-a-pack","pa_packaging-description-1-per-each","first","instock","taxable","shipping-taxable","purchasable","product-type-simple
