The Walter Coolcut 5-inch sanding disc (SKU: 15C508) is a staple abrasive for industrial fabrication shops requiring reliable, cost-effective metal finishing solutions. Engineered by Walter Surface Technologies, this 80-grit fiber disc is designed to deliver consistent performance across a wide range of general-purpose steel applications. The Coolcut line is renowned for its ability to maintain a high removal rate without generating excessive heat, a critical factor when working on heat-sensitive materials or thin-walled sections where warping is a concern.

Constructed with a premium aluminum oxide grain blend, these discs provide an aggressive initial cut that breaks down evenly to produce a uniform surface finish. The abrasive grains are bonded to a heavy-duty vulcanized fiber backing, which offers the structural integrity needed to withstand the high pressures of edge grinding and surface blending. This robust backing ensures that the disc remains flat and effective throughout its lifespan, reducing the frequency of disc changes and minimizing downtime in production environments.

This 25-pack configuration is optimized for high-volume users, ensuring that your tool crib remains stocked with essential consumables. The 80-grit specification makes this particular disc an excellent choice for intermediate finishing steps—bridging the gap between heavy stock removal and final surface polishing. Whether used for removing light welds, blending machine marks, or preparing steel surfaces for painting, the Walter Coolcut disc delivers professional results. It requires a compatible backing pad for operation, ensuring safety and optimal abrasive contact.
