The Walter Surface Technologies 13L514 is a high-performance 5-inch wire wheel brush designed specifically for heavy-duty industrial applications involving stainless steel and aluminum. In the MRO and fabrication sectors, surface contamination is a critical concern; using standard carbon steel brushes on stainless steel can lead to “after-rust” or rust bloom, compromising the integrity and aesthetics of the finished product. This brush addresses that challenge by utilizing premium-grade stainless steel wire, ensuring that the passivation layer of the workpiece remains uncontaminated.

Engineered with a twisted knot construction, this wheel is built for aggression. Unlike crimped wire brushes which are suited for lighter surface finishing, the knot-twisted design provides the stiffness and impact required to remove heavy slag, thick scale, and stubborn corrosion. The 3/8-inch face width allows for concentrated cleaning power, making it particularly effective for cleaning stringer beads and root passes in pipeline construction. The integrated 5/8″-11 threaded arbor allows for direct mounting onto standard angle grinders, eliminating the need for separate adapters and ensuring a safe, concentric spin.

Walter is renowned for their attention to balance. This wire wheel is manufactured to strict tolerances to ensure perfect rotational balance. For the industrial operator, this translates to significantly reduced vibration, which not only extends the life of the grinder’s bearings but also reduces the risk of Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) during prolonged use. Whether used in a fabrication shop, a shipyard, or on a pipeline spread, the 13L514 delivers consistent, safe, and efficient results.

This product is rated for use on angle grinders. Operators should verify the maximum RPM rating of the brush matches or exceeds the tool’s free speed. It is primarily intended for edge cleaning, weld cleaning, and surface preparation where material removal is not the goal, but rather the removal of surface contaminants.

These brushes are made from top quality wire that is perfectly knotted and balanced to minimize vibration and maximize user safety.
[2000,2009

post-1750756","product","type-product","status-publish","product_cat-abrasives","product_cat-grinding-brushes","pa_arbor-in-5-8","pa_brand-walter","pa_diameter-in-549","pa_packaging-description-1-in-a-pack","pa_used-to-grind-stainless","pa_wheel-style-twist-knot","pa_width-in-3-8","pa_wire-type-knot-twisted","first","onbackorder","taxable","shipping-taxable","purchasable","product-type-simple
