The Walter 12C311 Grinding Plug is a premium abrasive tool engineered for heavy-duty metal removal in confined areas. Measuring 1-1/2 inches in diameter and 3 inches in length, this plug is specifically designed to tackle the challenges of grinding internal diameters, smoothing out castings, and deburring heavy steel structures. Manufactured by Walter Surface Technologies, a leader in industrial abrasives, this product exemplifies the brand’s commitment to safety, performance, and longevity. Unlike standard mounted points that may suffer from shaft runout or vibration, this plug features an integrated 5/8″-11 internal threaded arbor. This design allows for direct mounting onto the spindle of compatible straight grinders, ensuring a rigid, secure connection that maximizes power transfer and safety.

Fabricators and metalworkers often face difficulties when trying to grind inside pipes, holes, or tight corners with standard angle grinders. The cylindrical shape of the Walter 12C311 allows operators to access these restricted zones with ease. The abrasive composition is optimized for use on steel and stainless steel, providing an aggressive cut rate without glazing over. This ensures that the operator can maintain productivity throughout the life of the wheel. Furthermore, Walter pays meticulous attention to the balance of their grinding plugs. A well-balanced wheel reduces chatter and vibration, which not only improves the surface finish but also significantly reduces the physical strain on the operator’s hands and arms during extended use.

Durability is a key factor in industrial environments, and the resinoid bond used in this plug is formulated to withstand the high pressures and heat generated during snagging and heavy grinding. Whether you are cleaning up foundry castings, preparing pipe bevels, or removing heavy weld seams in tight pockets, the 12C311 delivers consistent results. The direct thread mount eliminates the need for collets, which can sometimes slip or wear out, providing a hassle-free solution for high-torque grinding applications. By choosing Walter, you are investing in an abrasive solution that prioritizes both the quality of the work and the safety of the worker.
