The Bonarc E7018-1 3.2mm (1/8") Stick Electrode is a high-performance consumable designed for welding carbon and high-strength low-alloy steels. Distinguished by the "-1" suffix, this electrode offers superior impact toughness at lower temperatures (typically down to -45°C) compared to standard E7018 electrodes. This makes it an exceptional choice for structural applications where ductility and resistance to cracking in cold environments are paramount, such as in offshore structures, bridges, and pressure vessels.
Engineered with a moisture-resistant, low-hydrogen iron powder coating, the Bonarc 7018-1 delivers excellent deposition efficiency and radiographic soundness. The iron powder content assists in maintaining a smooth, stable arc that is easy to manipulate in all positions, including vertical-up and overhead. Welders will appreciate the rod's excellent striking and re-striking properties, which reduce the likelihood of porosity at the start of the weld—a common challenge with low-hydrogen consumables.
The resulting weld bead is characterized by a flat to slightly convex profile with fine ripples and minimal spatter. Slag removal is exceptionally easy, often self-releasing, which improves productivity by reducing post-weld cleaning time. This electrode operates effectively on both Direct Current Electrode Positive (DCEP) and Alternating Current (AC), providing flexibility depending on the power source available. For industrial fabrication requiring code-quality welds and reliable mechanical properties, the Bonarc E7018-1 is a trusted solution.
