The Exocor E2594-16 is a premium coated manual metal arc welding electrode designed specifically for joining Super Duplex stainless steels. Engineered to meet the rigorous demands of industries such as offshore oil and gas, chemical processing, and desalination, this electrode complies with AWS A5.4 specifications. It is formulated to weld alloys with a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) greater than 40, such as UNS S32750 (2507) and S32760. The deposited weld metal exhibits an austenitic-ferritic microstructure that provides exceptional resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in chloride-rich environments.

Metallurgically, the E2594-16 composition is balanced to ensure adequate ferrite content, typically in the range of 30-60%, which is critical for maintaining the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the joint. The electrode features a rutile-based coating that supports a stable arc, minimal spatter, and excellent bead aesthetics. It is suitable for welding super duplex materials to themselves or for joining super duplex to lower alloyed stainless steels or carbon steels. The 3/16-inch (4.8mm) diameter allows for higher deposition rates in heavy-wall pipe and plate applications.

This product is packaged in a durable 10lb tube, ensuring moisture protection and ease of storage. Proper handling and storage are essential to prevent porosity; if exposed to ambient moisture, re-drying according to manufacturer specifications is recommended. With a tensile strength typically exceeding 110 ksi (760 MPa) and elongation greater than 20%, the Exocor E2594-16 ensures structural integrity in the most demanding service conditions.
