The Selectarc E308L-16 is a high-performance rutile-basic coated stick electrode designed for the welding of austenitic stainless steels. Engineered to meet AWS A5.4 classifications, this electrode deposits a low-carbon 19% Cr / 9% Ni weld metal, making it ideal for joining AISI 304 and 304L grades. The 'L' designation indicates a maximum carbon content of 0.04%, which significantly reduces the risk of carbide precipitation at grain boundaries, thereby enhancing resistance to intergranular corrosion without the need for post-weld heat treatment.
This 3.2mm electrode is formulated for exceptional operator appeal. It features a smooth, stable arc with very low spatter emission, suitable for use on both AC and DC+ power sources. The slag system is designed for easy detachment, often self-releasing upon cooling, revealing a bright, finely rippled bead profile. The controlled ferrite content in the deposit (typically FN 3-10) provides excellent resistance to hot cracking, ensuring structural integrity in demanding applications.
Packaged in a 5kg moisture-resistant container, these electrodes are ready for industrial fabrication environments. They are widely used in industries such as chemical processing, food and beverage manufacturing, and architectural stainless steel fabrication where aesthetic finish and corrosion resistance are paramount.
