The ESAB OK 63.30 is a high-quality LMA (Low Moisture Absorption) stick electrode classified as E316L-17 under AWS standards. Designed specifically for welding austenitic stainless steels of the 18% Cr / 12% Ni / 2.8% Mo type, this electrode is engineered to meet the rigorous demands of industrial fabrication where corrosion resistance is paramount. The 'L' designation indicates an extra-low carbon content (maximum 0.04%), which significantly reduces the risk of carbide precipitation and subsequent intergranular corrosion, making it ideal for applications involving corrosive media.
This 2.5mm electrode features a rutile-acid coating that provides excellent arc stability and operability on both AC and DC+ currents. The slag system is formulated to cover the weld bead completely, protecting it from oxidation during cooling, yet it detaches easily—often self-releasing—to reveal a bright, smooth weld profile with fine ripple formation. The OK 63.30 is also suitable for welding stabilized stainless steels of similar composition, provided the working temperature does not exceed 400°C (approx 750°F).
Technical specifications include a typical yield strength of 460 MPa and a tensile strength of 570 MPa, with elongation around 40%. The chemical composition is tightly controlled to ensure consistent mechanical properties and ferrite content (FN 3-10), providing good resistance to hot cracking. It is widely utilized in the chemical, petrochemical, and food processing industries where 316L materials are standard.
