The ESAB OK Tigrod 4043 is a high-quality aluminum-silicon alloy TIG welding rod designed for general-purpose applications. Classified under AWS A5.10 as ER4043, this filler metal contains approximately 5% silicon (AlSi5). The addition of silicon depresses the melting point of the alloy relative to the base metal, providing excellent fluidity and wetting action. This characteristic makes it particularly suitable for welding 6xxx series alloys, such as 6061 and 6063, as well as casting alloys like 356.0.

One of the primary technical advantages of the 4043 alloy is its reduced sensitivity to weld cracking. The solidification range of the Al-Si system helps to bridge gaps and accommodate contraction stresses during cooling, thereby minimizing hot cracking issues often associated with aluminum welding. This rod is supplied in a 1.6mm (1/16") diameter, cut to 39" (1000mm) lengths, and packaged in a robust 5kg tube to ensure material cleanliness and integrity during storage.

It is important to note that while ER4043 provides excellent weldability and appearance, it is not recommended for parts that will be subsequently anodized for color matching, as the high silicon content will turn the weld area dark gray. However, for structural integrity in general fabrication, automotive components, and repair work where post-weld aesthetics regarding anodizing are not critical, ESAB OK Tigrod 4043 is the industry standard choice.
