The Miller Weldcraft WC018X7 is a pack of ten 2% Ceriated Tungsten Electrodes, designed to meet the rigorous demands of precision TIG welding. Identified by the AWS classification EWCe-2 and a standard gray color code, these electrodes are composed of approximately 97.3% tungsten and 1.8% to 2.2% cerium oxide (ceria). This specific chemical composition provides a distinct advantage over pure tungsten by lowering the work function of the material, which facilitates easier electron emission. Consequently, the WC018X7 exhibits superior arc starting and re-ignition capabilities, particularly in low-amperage applications where arc stability is critical.

One of the primary technical benefits of the WC018X7 is its versatility regarding current types. It is engineered to perform exceptionally well with both Direct Current (DC) and Alternating Current (AC) power sources, including modern inverter-based machines and traditional transformer rectifiers. In DC welding, it provides a stable, focused arc ideal for joining carbon steels, stainless steels, nickel alloys, and titanium. In AC processes, the ceriated content allows the electrode to maintain a stable ball at the tip without the excessive spitting often associated with pure tungsten, making it suitable for welding aluminum and magnesium alloys.
