Specifically engineered for the 17, 18, and 26 series TIG torches, this "stubby" gas lens replaces the standard collet body, allowing the operator to utilize the smaller, more compact 13N series alumina nozzles (typically found on 9 and 20 series torches). This conversion significantly reduces the overall length and diameter of the torch front end, facilitating access to confined spaces and complex joint geometries that would otherwise be inaccessible with a standard setup.

Beyond its compact form factor, the 17GL116 integrates a multi-layer mesh screen that acts as a gas diffuser. This design promotes a laminar flow of shielding gas, reducing turbulence compared to standard collet bodies. Laminar flow ensures a more coherent gas column, which provides superior oxidation protection for the weld pool and the tungsten electrode.
