In oxy-fuel cutting and welding, a flashback occurs when the flame propagates back up the torch and into the gas supply lines, potentially reaching the cylinders with catastrophic results. The FBP-1 mitigates this risk by extinguishing the flame at the torch inlet, ensuring that the hose and regulator remain protected.

Beyond its primary safety function, the FBP-1 distinguishes itself with Victor's integrated Kwik-Connect coupling system.
