The Techniweld 24-CV7PRP Check Valve Pair is a fundamental safety component for all oxy-fuel welding, cutting, and heating applications. Designed to mount directly to the torch inlets, these valves serve a critical function: preventing the reverse flow of gases. Reverse flow can occur when a tip becomes clogged or when one gas cylinder runs empty, causing the higher-pressure gas to back up into the lower-pressure hose. This condition creates a potentially explosive mixture within the hose or regulator. These check valves utilize a spring-loaded mechanism that remains open during normal flow but instantly seals shut if back-pressure is detected.
Engineered with precision, the set includes two valves: one with right-hand threads for oxygen and one with left-hand threads (notched) for fuel gas. Both feature standard "B" size 9/16"-18 fittings, ensuring compatibility with the vast majority of industrial cutting torches and welding handles from major brands like Victor, Harris, and Smith. The body is machined from high-quality brass, offering excellent resistance to corrosion and physical damage in rugged workshop environments.
It is important to note that while check valves stop reverse flow, they do not stop a flame front (flashback). For complete protection, they should be used in conjunction with flashback arrestors. However, check valves are the first line of defense and are mandatory in many safety protocols. The compact and lightweight design of the 24-CV7PRP ensures that the balance and ergonomics of the torch are not compromised, allowing operators to work comfortably while maintaining high safety standards.
