The Tillman 1350 MIG Welding Gloves are engineered to address the specific demands of Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). This model utilizes a hybrid material construction to optimize both durability and performance. The palm is crafted from premium top grain cowhide, a material selected for its tight grain structure which offers excellent abrasion resistance while maintaining the pliability necessary for handling welding guns and tools. Conversely, the back of the glove is constructed from split cowhide, which provides a thicker, more rugged barrier against the spatter and higher radiant heat levels typical of MIG processes.
A key technical feature of the 1350 series is its differential lining. The palm remains unlined, a deliberate design choice that preserves tactile sensitivity. This allows the operator to maintain precise control over the welding gun trigger and facilitates the handling of smaller components or filler wires. To counterbalance the heat exposure, the back of the hand is lined with foam. This insulation layer effectively retards heat transfer from the arc to the welder's hand, extending comfort during long beads or high-amperage applications.
Structural integrity is ensured through the use of Kevlar thread for all stitching. Kevlar's high tensile strength and flame resistance prevent seam failure in high-heat environments. The glove also features a seamless forefinger, removing a common failure point where seams often burn out or cause discomfort. The design includes a wing thumb for ergonomic movement and a 4-inch split cowhide cuff to protect the wrist and lower forearm from sparks. An elastic strip on the back ensures a secure fit, minimizing the risk of the glove slipping during operation.
