OVERVIEW

Precision Engineered for Industrial Performance

The Walter Allsteel™ Carbide Burr SA-1 (01W301) represents the pinnacle of American manufacturing in rotary tooling. Designed specifically for heavy-duty industrial applications, this carbide burr is engineered to deliver consistent, high-performance results across a wide range of ferrous metals. Whether utilized in CNC machining centers or handheld die grinders, the Allsteel™ series ensures optimal material removal rates without sacrificing surface finish quality.

Constructed from premium-grade tungsten carbide, this SA-1 cylindrical burr features a sophisticated double cut geometry. This design is critical for industrial operators as it effectively breaks down chips into small, manageable granular particles rather than long, dangerous slivers. This not only improves operator safety but also significantly reduces tool loading and chatter, allowing for smoother operation and prolonged tool life. The precision grinding process used in its manufacture guarantees concentricity, ensuring that the burr runs true at high RPMs, protecting your expensive pneumatic and electric tools from unnecessary wear.

The 01W301 model features a standard 1/4" shank and a 1/4" diameter head with a 5/8" length of cut, making it a versatile choice for general deburring, edge breaking, and surface leveling. Its robust construction is specifically tuned for steel and stainless steel applications, providing aggressive stock removal while maintaining the control necessary for precision work. By choosing Walter Surface Technologies, industrial facilities benefit from a tool that minimizes downtime and maximizes throughput.

FAQ

Single cut burrs have one set of flutes and produce long chips, often used for general material removal. Double cut burrs, like this Walter 01W301, have cross-cut flutes that produce small chips, offer better control, reduce vibration, and leave a smoother finish.

While it can physically cut aluminum, it is not recommended. Double cut burrs tend to clog (load up) with soft non-ferrous metals like aluminum. For aluminum, you should use a dedicated 'Alu-Cut' or non-ferrous burr with wider flutes.

For a 1/4" diameter carbide burr, the recommended speed is typically between 20,000 and 25,000 RPM. Always refer to the specific speed charts provided by the manufacturer for the material you are working on.

While the shank may fit, standard drills usually do not spin fast enough (often maxing out at 2,000-3,000 RPM) to use a carbide burr effectively. Carbide burrs require high speeds (die grinders) to cut properly; low speeds can cause chipping and tool failure.

The Allsteel™ line is specifically engineered for ferrous metals, including mild steel, structural steel, stainless steel, and cast iron.

SA-1 refers to the standard industry shape and size code. 'SA' indicates a cylindrical shape without an end cut, and the number '1' typically denotes a 1/4" diameter by 5/8" length of cut on a 1/4" shank.

Generally, carbide burrs are used dry. However, using a lubricant like Walter Coolcut can sometimes help improve the finish and extend tool life by keeping the temperature down, especially on stainless steel.

This product is meticulously crafted in the USA, ensuring high standards of quality and consistency.
