OVERVIEW

Precision Material Removal for Non-Ferrous Metals

The Walter 01V069 Carbide Burr is a premium industrial tool engineered specifically for the challenges of working with soft, non-ferrous materials. Manufactured from the highest grade tungsten carbide, this burr is designed to deliver exceptional durability and consistent performance in demanding production environments. The SL-4 Cone shape, measuring 1/2 inch in diameter by 1-1/8 inches in length, provides versatility for both surface work and contouring in confined areas.

One of the critical features of this tool is its specialized non-ferrous flute geometry. Unlike standard double-cut burrs which can easily clog when processing aluminum or copper, the 01V069 utilizes a wider tooth spacing and a specific relief angle. This design facilitates rapid chip evacuation, preventing the material from loading up in the flutes. The result is a tool that maintains its cutting efficiency throughout the operation, reducing downtime associated with cleaning or changing clogged bits.

Walter Surface Technologies adheres to strict manufacturing tolerances to ensure perfect concentricity. A balanced tool is essential for safety and finish quality; it eliminates the chatter and vibration that can damage the workpiece or cause operator fatigue. The 1/4-inch shank is universally compatible with standard pneumatic and electric die grinders, ensuring a secure fit and safe operation at high RPMs. For industrial MRO operations requiring reliable, high-speed stock removal on aluminum, magnesium, or plastics, this carbide burr represents a superior choice in tooling.

Technical Excellence

The manufacturing process of Walter carbide burrs involves precision grinding that ensures every tooth engages the material effectively. This leads to a smoother surface finish even during aggressive stock removal. The tungsten carbide substrate is selected for its hardness and heat resistance, allowing the burr to maintain its sharp edge longer than high-speed steel alternatives.

FAQ

The SL-4 is a Cone shape with a radius end (often called a Ball Nosed Cone). It measures 1/2 inch in diameter and 1-1/8 inches in length of cut.

Non-ferrous burrs have wider flute spacing and a specific angle designed to evacuate large, soft chips (like aluminum) to prevent the tool from clogging or 'loading up'.

It is not recommended. The aggressive tooth angle designed for soft metals may chip or dull prematurely if used on hard ferrous metals like steel. Use a Double Cut burr for steel.

You need a die grinder (pneumatic or electric) equipped with a 1/4-inch collet.

Walter burrs are manufactured for perfect concentricity, which significantly reduces vibration compared to lower-quality alternatives, provided your tool's collet is in good condition.

While the non-ferrous geometry is designed to run dry without clogging, using a cutting lubricant or wax can further extend tool life and improve the surface finish on very soft or gummy aluminum alloys.

This burr has a standard 1/4" hardened steel shank.
